What is renewable energy?
Renewable power harnesses inexhaustible natural resources – such as energy from the sun, wind, core heat and water – instead of exhaustible ‘conventional energy’ resources such as coal, oil and natural gas.
For several years consumers have been able to buy green energy from the power companies, but these days it’s possible to start generating the green stuff yourself – and you could even receive help with the costs.
So with a little investment and a little know-how, you could turn your fossil fuel-dependent home into a green-energy palace.
Solar
BoilerWorX can install a solar panel package for hot water heating, allowing our customers to take advantage of renewable and sustainable energy.
The solar panels we use in our installations have been designed to compliment existing heating systems which use a store of hot water in a cylinder. The existing cylinder is exchanged for a twin coil cylinder which requires no more space than your old cylinder. This has obvious advantages for home owners where space is at a premium. You will not even lose any loft space.
Solar can be installed in any home, including flats and apartments which have access to the roof. If you have a large, un-shaded, predominantly south facing roof space this is ideal but it is possible to have solar panels on other aspects.
Ground Source Heat Pumps
Ground source heat pumps use pipes buried in the garden to extract heat from the ground. This is usually used to warm water for radiators or underfloor heating systems. It can also be used to pre-heat water before it goes into a more conventional boiler.
